QUEEN MARGARET UNIVERSITY, EDINBURGH MSc Music Therapy (Nordoff-Robbins) This programme is offered on either a two-year full-time or three-year part-time basis. A particular focus is placed on the Nordoff-Robbins approach to music therapy while also incorporating other methodologies in both teaching and placement contexts. Two contrasting placements are provided in this programme and these are underpinned by clear theoretical, practical and clinical constructs. At the heart of this lies the therapeutic value of music itself and how this can represent the main agent of change. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of a research mindset in each aspect of the programme. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a range of musical attributes, including competent keyboard skills. Experience in working alongside people who may demonstrate a particular disability or disorder is helpful.
